Getting prepared for the Exhibition is a long process. The students started in January and have worked for short periods each week to have the Central Idea and Lines of Inquiry ready for the start to the Exhibition. The students’ work and their recounts are below.
EXHIBITION 2015 will run from March 30th to May 15th.
The week of January 19th:
We were presenting our Exhibition photos that we took for “lets get camera happy : )”. I think this is important to understand the Exhibitions topic. This was challenging because some people didn’t do it on time or they didn’t have time like me.
This is when we presented our photos for homework. The homework was to take pictures connected to Sharing the Planet. We had to explain if it is a good balance between human structure and nature.
We were presenting our exhibition photos that we took for our homework `Lets get Camera Happy`. This was important to do because our topic was to take a picture of sharing the planet. Taking pictures was kind of fun because we can express ourselves.
This was when we were finishing up the exhibition photo issues. It is important to finish this because each one of us has nice ideas. The challenge was to listen because there was lots of useful information. After this I learnt that we need to support and balance nature.
The week of February 2nd:
We were working on our exhibition. I think this is important to start right now because if we don’t start working on it now then we won’t have enough time in the exhibition to start it from raw. I think this is challenging because there were only 3 people who have experience in the exhibition.
We were writing some ideas for our exhibition. It was important so, we can have a good idea and show our skills. I learned what we can do and whats important about nature.
The week of February 9th:
The parents met at the school to find out about the Exhibition. They looked at the progress the Grade 5/6 class had made and added their ideas and suggestions to the students’ work. Later, the students reviewed these suggestions and decided how they can use those ideas to improve their Central Idea and Lines of Inquiry.
This is the Exhibition’s topics. This is important because if we don’t know which one is the most suitable idea then it won’t be a very successful Exhibition. This was challenging because we needed to think about good and responsible ideas for these types of topics. We decided that this topic was a topic that isn’t suitable for us because we can do nothing about it.
This was when we were predicting what we could do in the exhibition. It is important because we can make sure the exhibition will be a topic that can last 6 weeks. It is challenging because we need to predict how it will be like if we chose this topic.
This is when we were planning for our exhibition and we posted it, down stairs. I learned what we were deciding on. It was important because we get to make the work simpler in the future.
This is the exhibition work to know what we are going to inquire into. The ideas are all connected how we should help or do something for nature. When we finished writing or working on the paper Mr.O’Neill put the poster at the hallway to show to the other teachers. The teachers can write something or give some questions.
This is when we finished our exhibition board to put downstairs.It was tricky to write ideas and facts about sharing the planet.This is good to do because we will understand what other people think about this board.
