Early Years Assistant Teacher

Our Early Years Programme is growing! Therefore we are looking for a caring and organized Early Years Assistant Teacher who has experience with kindergarten learners and a solid understanding of early childhood development. Excellent work standards and communication skills in English (plus German and/or Japanese) are required. For further inquiry please look into the job description. Job tasks and responsibilities

  • Teach children in consultation with Early Years Coordinator and senior Kindergarten teachers
  • Organise the classroom and learning resources and create displays to encourage a positive learning environment
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for using relevant technology to support instruction
  • Motivate students with enthusiastic, imaginative attitude
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and agreements of the school
  • Help guide children from one place to another
  • Clean up children, change diapers, assist children with changing clothes
  • Monitor children in a variety of settings (e.g. classroom, playground, field trips) to ensure a safe learning environment
  • Supervise lunch
  • Ensure a safe learning environment by keeping the classroom and toys clean
  • Keep records of children’s attendance
  • Keeping appropriate progress reports (formal, anecdotal, rubric, checklists)
  • Work with others to plan and coordinate work
  • Assist in organising and take part in school events, outings and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening
  • Liaise with colleagues and work flexibly
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Attend workshops to continue professional development
  • Provides appropriate assistance to students with special needs

Education and experiences

  • Relevant exams or Bachelor degree
  • Ideally Teaching qualifications for kindergarten
  • Relevant teaching experience as an assistant teacher (2 years)

Saturday School German Language Teacher

Employment Period: September 2018 – June 2019

The Saturday school of Deutsche Schule Kobe International is a Saturday morning school open to children with an English, German and French speaking background. The German Program is designed to meet the demand from parents for a German program structured to the specific needs of children who desire to master the German language or to improve and enhance their German language skills.

As a Saturday School Teacher, you will:

  • Teach one of our German language classes
  • Prepare and develop your own daily lesson plans
  • Supervise and teach children during working hours
  • Provide feedback and evaluation of student’s progress

Working Conditions:

  • 30 Saturdays throughout the school year - (exact dates can be found on the Saturday School page)
  • Teaching Hours: 9:00-12:00
  • Working Hours: 8:15 – 12:15


  • ¥15,000/day

You will possess the following requirements:

  • Experience working with children (5-15 years of age) a must
  • Experience with primary classroom management an asset
  • Background in ESL and/or related field a must
  • Experience with multi-level children in classes a must
  • Relevant teaching experience of at least 2 years a must
  • Bachelor degree, Teaching degree or qualification or language instruction certificate an asset
  • Native German speaker a must
