Grade One, visited the Maishima Incineration Plant, as part of their unit on recycling. They were inspired by the colourful work of the famous artist and architecture, Friedensreich Hundertwasser.
Students enjoyed the trip and were mesmerised by the mosaic towers that made the Incineration Plant look like a fairy tale castle. Intrigued by the design, Grade One wanted to learn more about the mastermind behind it. So, they embarked on their own Hundertwasser project, with students creating expressive self-portraits.

The production was a big undertaking for the students as we began learning about the Chinese New Year celebrations in January as part of our inquiry into how New Years is celebrated in different places and cultures.
