The children in Pre-Kindergarten love to listen to stories. Every day they choose books to be read to them and are comfortable with either the same story or excited at a new one.
As we have some very talented writers at our school, Ms. Oyama (the Japanese teacher) and Ms. Anita (the Pre-Kindergarten teacher) collaborated in having some of the Grade 3 children present their fabulous stories to the children in Pre-KG.
Daisuke, Gabriel, Maori, Ryuki and Yuma brought their handmade books into the Pre-KG class where they were eagerly awaited in the magic reading corner.
Soon Maelle, Miharu, Moca and Yuito were transported into a world of snakes and gold coins and listened with great attention to Maori’s well read story.
With the help of some props, they understood even better and started to act out the story. When Yuma read his book, they were all excited to hear again about the big snake.
After a while all shyness was gone and the Pre-KG discovered the beautiful book covers hand drawn by the boys. There were not only snakes, but colourful roofs, trees, a Japanese man in Kimono and a grandfather on his way to the forest !
This joint venture was a great opportunity for our school’s children of different ages to interact and learn from each other !
Thank you Yuma, Ryuki, Maori, Gabriel and Daisuke for your creativity and kind attention. Oyama-sensei, arigato gozaimashita !
