Preschool is the first full-time class children complete after Kindergarten. Children entering Preschool must be 5 years old before September 1st of the year they wish to enter. During Preschool, children learn the routines of full-time school and develop important study habits needed for their future education. The European School follows the International Baccalaureate Organization Primary Years Programme, and in Preschool the children complete six Units of Inquiry. During the six Units of Inquiry the children will learn about being healthy, the local community, celebrations and traditions, life cycles, transportation and the environment. The language programme covers speaking, listening, reading and writing. The mathematics programme includes number, calculations, measurement, space and shape, patterns and data. Currently, the children are completing the first Unit of Inquiry called Be Healthy. They have learnt about the importance of hygiene, food and exercise in order to live a balanced and healthy life.
