Grade 5 visited the Asahi Bottling Factory, where their coffee, tea, and sodas are bottled. We got to see the whole process while we watched the production line! The machines were intricate and gave us insight into the complex system required to bottle the drinks for consumers in Japan. We learned that one of the machines was able to fill 1,600 cans of Wonda coffee in 1 minute! One of the most interesting things we learned during this trip was the measures Asahi takes to be more eco-friendly. The PET bottles that don’t pass regulation are recycled into polyester string, which is then used to make their uniforms! Ten 2L bottles make one summer shirt, and fourteen 2L bottles make a winter shirt. We enjoyed learning more about Asahi and their popular Japanese products.
