At the end of our unit on the life cycle of living things, the Preschool class visited the Itami Insectarium. The children had an opportunity to see many different insects at different stages of their life cycles.
We enjoyed eating our snacks and lunches outside, and even saw some insects and other wild animals flying around Koyaike Park and swimming in the pond.
Inside the museum, the students could see real living insects, as well as some large models, such as a giant honeybee enlarged 200 times to 2.4 meters! They even had the opportunity to bee-have like bees and other insects by dressing up in some of the costumes or by wearing headbands/ masks of their favourite insect!
One of the highlights for many students was inside the large dome that was home to hundreds of butterflies! Although some students were really excited and were hoping that they would be lucky enough to have some butterflies land on them, there were others that just wanted to get out as quick as they could!
