Throughout our fifth unit of inquiry, the students inquired into the wonders of outer space and how the other celestial bodies have an impact on our lives here on Earth.
Our lines of inquiry focused on how the solar system works, what features make each of the planets in our solar system unique, and things that support life. As a primarily science related unit, we carried out several science-related experiments to discover things such as how the moon phases change, why we have different seasons, and how we can use the sun to help tell the time. The students also carried out research into the differences between planets, moons, the sun and stars and each became an expert on one of the planets in our solar system.
At the end of the unit, the students had the chance to share what they learnt in the unit either by writing a story or by creating an informational video.
