Summer Makers Camp 2017

Thank you to everyone who attended our 2017 Makers Summer camp. We had a successful camp with all of the attendees. Please watch this space for details of our next Summer camp in 2018. We will also be in touch at school when the details of the next camp are confirmed.

Class Description

Construction Challenge

Children will learn how to prototype and design through a variety of fun, time-based construction challenges. This is a valuable, warm-up time to get learners in a creative mindset. Children will learn to communicate effectively with others.

Interactive Movie Time

Every two days, the children will be invited to choose between two movie options. Both movies will be accompanied by related activities or crafts. One of the choices will always be an episode of Planet Earth or Planet Earth 2.

MakerSpace

Open-ended creation time for all children. They are invited to use provided materials to build physical projects. This is truly the time for children to experiment with challenging construction projects. They will learn how to use different kinds of materials and tools to build functional products.

Collaborative Coding

Children will begin to develop their own coding projects individually before sharing with the larger group. This is free creation time facilitated by the camp teachers.

Coding with Ms. Lee

Children learn to code at their level and their pace. For the younger kids, this means physical and digital coding projects, as well as learning the basics of electricity, computers and more! They will begin their first steps into the exciting world of coding through guided, block-based coding languages. Older kids will learn how to create animations, mobile apps and online games on a variety of platforms. Primary text-based coding languages will include Python and Javascript.
