The grade 1 students finished their swimming unit last week. They focused on learning and improving their backstroke as well as the pencil jump. Everybody showed great effort and expanded their swimming skills, well done!
Grade One has been having a blast familiarising themselves with their unit under the transdisciplinary theme How we express themselves. Their week as revolved around the Line of Inquiry What makes us special?
Grade One practised using a microscope and then prepared their own slides to take a closer look at their hair! They went even further and attempted to extract DNA from their saliva. Students were fascinated to see just how unique they are and got to see themselves from a scientific perspective!
Grade One has been busy working on the transdisciplinary theme Sharing the Planet, where their inquiry took them to understanding the importance of the Earth’s resources. They looked at the glass making process in detail, beginning with sand. They were fascinated to learn that sand can turn into smooth glass.
